So I went up to Costco today to get some meat and hot dog buns. On the way out..I handed the cashier my Costco card, paid, took my reciept and left. All without being acknowledged by the cashier. She did the entire transaction without saying hello, or thanks. I mean...its not that she was shy...she was just too busy talking to her coworker about whatever to notice a person on the other of the conveyor belt.
Then on the way out...the same thing happened. Their people they have at the exit door, took my reciept, slashed it and kept talkign to her buddy next to her without even counting to see what i had in my cart in the first place...which is what she is supposed to do.
I dont know...this just bugs the heck out of me. When I worked at a grocery store, I always said hello and goodbye or thanks to all my customers. Its not that hard. As a teacher, I say Hi to each kid that passes me on the way to my classroom.
My dad one time, while we were having dinner, was wondering where our waitress was. Another waitress told us she was outside on a smoke break. Dad got up, left the room, and next thing we know...she is coming back inside slightly shaking and doing her job. I know my dad just chewed her out...and I agree with him. When you work in a restaurant and you are a waiter / waitress, you wait on your customers and then when you dont have any, you can take a break. Dont take a smoke break in the middle of waiting on people.
I think customers want to be treated like people more and more...but less people want to treat customers like people.
Just a rant.
