This is what i voted for.

Yesterday, Marcie and I went to a local shopping mall to take place in the early elections. She can tell you who she voted for. Thats her beeswax. I have no problem, and if you disagree with me....well we agree to disagree.

Prez: John F. Kerry - I voted for him because...I agree with more of his stands than I do on Bush; and thats how I think anyone should vote. Dont vote for a Dem or Rep, because you are a Dem or Rep...vote for who has more of what you want in a prez.
There are many reasons I voted for him. I personally am Pro-life...and kerry is pro-choice...which bothers me...but thats not the only thing I had in mind when Im looking for a leader. He wants to reform education. Bush, from my experience as a teacher being affected by the current NCLB law....has seriously hurt education. Etc...I could go on...but I wont.

All the smaller people. I had no flipping idea who to vote for. I just moved down here. I didnt vote for the people who called at supper time...for the eople who sent me fliers every other day...etc. Yeah I know...but there is no other way for me to find out information on the people who were running. I voted for lots of women as well. I figured what the heck...why not get some more women in office. And No...I didnt vote all Dem...some people where Rep...because the Dems made me mad by their political ads...etc and vice versa.

There were a bunch of questions as well that i had to vote on:

1. Should the schools be funded before anything else. YES! Schools should neve be told there isnt enough money for funding. This should be the first thing on every states list...even the federal list. Education....#1 priority, period.

2. Should nevadas per-pupil expenditure meet or exceed the national average. YES! Im sorry...but just reading this...you know that if you say NO, you are saying that you want Nevada to remain at the bottom of the list for per pupil spending. Schools get money based on how many students there are. For each student....there is X number of dollars tied to them for funding. Upper New York State students get about 15grand a student...other districts aroudn the country...get about 2,500 a student. Nevada and all other states should strive to meet the national average for per pupil spending...this just makes sense.

3. This question was so long..that after reading it for about 10 minutes...I just clicked no, and went on.

4. Should nevada govern insurance rates and practices in nevada? Yep. Somebody needs to keep a careful eye over insurance rates and practices. Insurance rates are already sky high down here.

5. Should the Nevada constitution be ammended to penalize lawyers willfully involved in vexatious and friviolous litigation, and to prohibit certain changes to limits on recovery of monetary damages? YES. Lawyers....grr. Lawyers who knowlingly do something stupid...should be penalized for it.

6. Shall Nevada raise the minimum wage? YES. Money is good. It may raise the cost of living and other things...but more money...is more money. Money good. I think minimum wage should always be lower than what other people get paid...but right now...its very low compared to other wages. You cant live off of it. You arent supposed to...but the way it is now...you really cant live off of it.

7. rewording of consituttion: YES. This was basically changing "idiot and insane" to "a person who has been adjudicated mentally incompetent, unless restored to legal capacity"

8. Tax exemption: YES. These exemptions I think would hardly affect Nevada. Tax from the sales of used vehicles, ag equipment, medical stuff, art, and racing equipment and parts.

9. advisory: Raise the sales tax .5 to 1 percent for the hiring of cops. YES. Cops good. Bad people, Bad. Since we have been down here, Marcie and I have seen so much crime and soooo many accidents left and right...there cant be too many police. I dont like raising tax...but there needs to be more officers out on the street.

10. A. Nevada shall not enact laws requiring counties to provide new services without funding.
B. The Nevada legislature shall not enact legislation that would reduce, eleminate or divert to the state revenue...sources previously authorized to support county and city government services and functions. YES. Its not right to enact laws requiring counties to provide new services...without giving them the money to do so.

I dont know how you voted...or how you would have voted on these issues down here, but I voted for what I felt best would be for me and for the state that I live in.

One thing that I think needs to be changed the next time around is the wording. Question number three was one question about doctors...and it was soo incredibly long, and the way it was worded...I got so confused.

Its like asking "Do you support the counter ammendment to the reversal of the previous decision made by the former future leader of the house of reps which states that all impending decisions be later made on a previous date regarding reversals of decisions?"

Questions need to be worded in a simple manner so that all who read it..can understand what it is asking the first time they read it.

I have yet to figure out why this should even *be* a federal problem in the first place? I pay *state* school tax. Seems to me this should be a state thing *not* a federal thing.

BUT Doc Miler we should look at the people who give schools 6% of their funding!! (Federal Government)

Forget the people who give schools 94% of their funding!! (Local/State Government)

Educational Plinko!!

Drmiller, State and local taxes pay for most of funding of schools...about 90%. The other 10% comes from federal taxes. The problem here lies with the fact that some state and local taxes (ie...ghetto parts of missouri, and other poorer states) hardly pay for anything for school funding because of the low taxes and poor areas. You dont pay *state* school tax. You pay your state taxes...part of which goes to schools.

Grim...it sounds like you are being sarcastic. While State and local taxes pay for most funding of schools...some states and local taxes hardly pay for anything. Nevada is like #45 on the list for school funding. While state and local may pay for most of the funding the schools get...the funding they give isnt much to begin with.

I said that the state should make it so that Nevada makes sure it meets or exceeds the national average for per-pupil funding...which is has yet to do.

Right on the state should make sure the state increases funding and to do that you have to change Local and State government not have Federal Government do it when it is a state problem.

Doc...that is the weirdest thing, paying a school tax. It must have been a law that PA passed in order for schools to get some more funding. I have never heard of that before, but Im also not surprised...if schools dont get enough money..they can get a law passed giving them extra funding above what they get from state, local, and fed. I'd have to say that the districts must be very strapped for cash if such a thing happens
