Try this...it works...and its no hack!
Man alive...I hate AOL. I seriously believe that the program was created for those who are incapable of learning how to use a regular internet browser.
I have had AOL for the past 3 years. I think it has been more...but they say its been 1.5 years...but I changed my screen name and that whole issue was weird in and of itself.
I started using it because I ended up owing over 70 bucks to my local Internet service provider and was too cheap and lazy to pay them back (more on that later). So I decided to go and try AOL. I used it for a while...the program took up so much memory while running that I just minimized it and opened up Internet Explorer and browsed the web that way. AOL was only used to get me online...I never used any of its programs or features.
After sometime, I ended up paying my bills to my local ISP because AOL was constantly freezing when I tried shutting it down...so I cancelled the account.....or at least I tried to. They didnt want me to cancel.
Instead, they offered 3 free months of service if I chose to stay. Well, if its free...why not? So I told them I would stay....while still paying for internet access through my other ISP. Now I had AOL as a backup in case my ISP crashed or had problems.
After three months, I knew it was time to quit...so I called again...they didnt want me to cancel. So again...they offered me three free months of internet access....again I accepted. Now If I really trusted the program...I could have cancelled my ISP account and just stuck with my free AOL service...but I chose not to...and kept both. This whole process of trying to cancel and getting three free months continued on and on.
Well lately, with the whole moving thing and new job...I got a Cable Modem for internet access. I havent been up to date with my AOL subscription......you know...the whole cancelling and getting free service...so i actually have been paying for a couple of months that I havent been using the service. I tell them I want to cancel...they ask why. I say because I have cable modem internet access. They say that since I have broadband...i can continue to get AOL for ten bucks a month...and better yet...have AOL broadband. Now...think about it. Why in the world would i want to have AOL for broadband...if all the program does is leech off the internet connection I have. Basically, I would be paying ten dollars a month for a internet browser.
I told him no...and to cancel. He said that he would send me an email and that I should think about it. I told him I dont remember the last time I used the service. He told me I used it tonight. I told him that I did use it....because I was on hold for over 20 minutes waiting to cancel my account, got impatient, and tried using their LIVE HELP service online to cancel the account. I also told him that outside of tonight...I dont remember the last time I used the account. He then told me again to think about it and read his email.
GRRRR!
I then just lost it. I told him that I just want to cancel the account. He told me that AOL must be good to me because Ive had it for a year and a half.....so I just blew up. I didnt yell or anything. I just said "Right...because for the last year or more...I have been trying to cancel the subscription...but everytime I do...you tell me to stay and I will get free service...which is what i have been doing for a long time. I dont like the program, never use it and no longer want it on my credit card. I know you have to tell me about your deals to keep me as a subscriber...but I just want to cancel the whole account so that i no longer have to worry about paying for it at all ever again"
Finally that got through. He told me he would start the cancellation process and then talk to his manager for approval. He doesnt freaking need approval! I am the person on the account!
Now...just for kicks...call AOL (if you can find a number for them...good luck...harder than heck to find) and cancel your account if you have one...or try to. See if they offer you a deal to try and stay...if they dont have a deal...then you can just 'change your mind' and keep the account going.
What is the point of paying for the program, unless you can get online for free?
