What happens with the minority belief...becomes the new majority standard.

Well this otta get a whole lot of flames, more than anything else I have written so far.

And Im not writing to get flames...or to anger people...I'm just writing to speak my mind.

As I write this, Im trying to think of how to NOT make it sound like all the other posts on here that have the same subject, because God and Government is a big issue, always has been. My desire is to maybe spark a new idea, a new thought, make you wonder, make you think.

One of the recent posts here on JU was about the pledge...and some people said they wanted God to stay in, and some want it to get out. I might have lots of mini paragraphs on here, Im changing from thought to thought....

I'm sure that by now, you have all read or heard about obese people suing fast food restaurants for making them fat, because the restaurants didnt properly inform customers of the nutritional content of their food. Some people were for those suing, and others...like myself, were for the companies. My standing is...how freaking stupid can you be, to eat a double quarter pounder hamburger (aka...1/2 pound of red meat) with cheese, a half pound of french fries (which my dog knows is deep fat fried in oil) and a liter of pop, all in one sitting, and think that it is nutritious? It all comes down to two basic ways to think about the food.....its either nutritious, or its not. Those people, who tried suing because they were obese...those thoughts never crossed their mind? I don't think so. Its the same thing with cigarette smokers. How can you possibly think that frequently inhaling the smoke of anything that is burning can NOT be harmful?

My point actually in this post is not on fast food, or obese people. It's that we, individually, want to put the blame on someone else...we want others to change. We don't ever want ourselves to change....but we want others to change in order to accomodate us and our desires. We honk on the road when others drive like morons, but fail to understand why people flick us off. We always are saying how we could make things better, but we hardly ever actually do, and we hate it when someone tells us we are and that we need to change things we do, to make things better.

This post is titled God and Government. And like I said before, its a response, and also a formation of my own standings, on God and Government. Lots of people out there have a problem with religion and government, thinking the combination of the two are bad.

Could you prove me wrong if I stated that our country is worse off now than it was years ago? Dont blame terrorists or anything like that. In general...can you honestly prove somehow that America is better off now than it was 5, 10, 20 years ago? This country (as we all have heard in most posts about this topic) was founded, started, on the beliefs of religious freedom. People came over here to escape the religious persecution they had recieved. Recently, people who don't hold the same values of the founders, they raised a fuss over many things. Hence, the ACLU. Fighting for the few...suing the many, tearing down standards. They take what is written in the constitution, read it in their own way and twist it into such a shape, that they can go into communities, where a few people have a problem with religious symbolism, threaten to, or take to court and sue to get the symbols removed. I'd be willing to say that in those communites, the vast majority had no problem with the symbols...but the minority won. This goes back to what I mentioned earlier. We don't like it when people tell us we are wrong...some of us think that having a religious symbol somewhere represents favoritism...so they fight and fight and their minority viewpoint becomes the new majority standard, completely tearing down the values that have existed for years without complaint.

At one of my meetings with my bike group that I ride with...one of the members mentioned how police and highway patrolmen should be able to hand out 'stupid' tickets. They should hand out tickets to people who do something really dumb. Sure, you can do things that are still legal...but they are stupid. They pull someone over and often times, those people have an excuse...thinking they actually didnt break the law....or knowing they broke the law, but thinking they should still get away with it because everyone else does.

Those people that sue, are just like people who get pulled over. They don't want to accept someone elses viewpoint. They dont even want to recognize it. They just want to be right, no matter what the cost.

Turning to the religous point in this post. I could go on about how the founding fathers laid out the foundation of the government based on principals found in the Bible. I could...because thats how it was done. But I wont. Lately, we have been tearing down that foundation because there are some people who don't want to accept what others believe. Its not a matter of accepting, or changing to a belief...its just that people think that if they allow, for example, God to stay in the pledge...that they are being 'forced' to recognize another religions belief.

We have record numbers of teenage pregnancies every year. But as teachers, I know that if I tried to teach abstinence in sex education classes, I would some how get hit by weirdos saying I was teaching a religious belief. The fact of the matter is that Im teaching common sense.
We can't teach Creationism in Science classes because thats teaching religion. Its not teaching religion...there are many religions out there that believe that the world was created. It's a theory. To me its the truth...but it is at least a theory that should be taught. Im not saying we need to talk about the life of Christ and all that, but I am saying that if we teach the theory of the Big Bang...we should teach the other major theories out there such as Creationism. And if you think about it...seperation of church and state is more actually "seperation of Christianity and state." When was the last time you saw a ACLU lawsuit against Native American beliefs? We teach more about the Gods of the Native Americans than we do of Christianity in school...and Christianity is taboo in schools...but other religions are freely mentioned and discussed.

The fact is...plain and simple. The more people fight and succeed to take God out of the Government, the more the country goes downhill. This country's system of values and standards is under attack. Where are our values? You might say that values comes from family. It does. But how can the values come from the family...if the values that family believes in, are constantly being erased by the few that do not believe in it?
