Captain, we need more time...we just cant do it!
with less than a week to go, i feel really rushed for getting stuff ready on time. School, is like organized chaos. At least, it can be. If its not organized, then there is chaos. Today, I finally got the keys to my classroom, got in and started getting to work although I dont feel like I got much done. Basically, I moved the desks around from their storage spot in the room, and made up 7 rows going across the room (rectangular) and four deep....because I have 28 kids. After talking with others, I might just start the year off in groups, although I dont like that idea because its just generally not a good idea to start a year off with groups. I dont have extra room in the classroom, so Im thinking of doing the groups thing right away because that would allow me the extra room I need for a classroom library and other stuff. I would like to have centers.
Tomorrow, we have some more meetings, have to get our TB test analyzed, and then hopefully get back for more work in the classroom, we didnt leave until 6 tonight...thats just going to burn us out. Like my mom says, which may sound lazy, but think about it...."leave school at school, dont take home homework, you need to have a life" She didnt really say anything about staying late, but go in, prepare for the school year, and work regular days doing it...but if you go into your personal life, dragging your career work into it, it drags you down.
