Tri-State prarie Jamboree

Hell all,
Well its almost 11pm here in Marshall, MN. Marcie (joeuser: Marciehelen) are here this weekend for a bike Rally. MN, ND, and SD all combine and form a tri-state rally which takes place somewhere different every year. This year, Marshall...last year, Fargo, then somewhere else, then Sioux Falls. Its nice to be able to go to these different towns that I probably would never go to, to see. We havent really gone outside of the town since we have been here except for once, so we havent really been able to see the scenery or surrounding areas. We did go on a short ride tonight for dinner, ended up being about 40 miles round trip which was nice, but we waited forever for our dinner to be served and then we had to rush to eat because we had to be back in town for a event at one of the hotels. I seriously need to start a article on here about GWRRA and all that stuff, so then its easier to understand where I am coming from when i say various biking related things.

This weekend, I am going to enter my bike in a bike show, like I normally do, except this year they are changing things up. Instead of me competing with the same model bikes, I am competing against bikes in a 13 year span....which sucks. thats like taking a regular car which would compete with the same model....and then changing it so it competes with all the models made within a 13 year span...big difference. I think they did that because there arent too many of the old bikes that I have, still around...easier to combine them all into one category. The problem with this is that the newer models have more gadgets and gizmos on them and just in general, look better....will see how this turns out tomorrow.

Whoa, Rex. I dont really know what you mean about the whole bike on a string thing. I wasnt complaining about the 40 miles either...thats nothing...almost a gallon of gas. We drove to Marhsall MN from Fargo ND, about 220 miles, which also is nothing. I was complaining more about the food service that we got at the restuarant. As part of the organization I belong to, there are local chapter couples, region couples, and international couples of the year. A couple that rides with my local group...were the region couples of the year. I wont try to explain it all, but they were competing in a competition event and our group wanted to see them, but first go out for dinner. The restaurant, a local legion or VFW place, took forever getting our orders ready.

The Rally: GWRRA is broken down into different regions. Each region is made up of a number of states. Region E for example covers: Minnesota, the Dakotas, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Illonois. Each year, MN, ND and SD come together for a Tri-State rally. For these small rallies, there might be something like 200-300 bikes, 20-30 vendors, games, contests, and other stuff. its not Sturgis...but then again...who needs that when you have Wing-Ding

I have a 1978 Honda GL1000 . Its a Gold Wing...the original touring bike...meant and built for long distance riding. If I had the time, and money, I could easily put on the same mileage.

nawww...once you've seen one 300 lb woman wearing nothing but a fishnet bodystocking and 3 strategically placed stickers, you've seen 'em all......

Yes, i lived there for 9 years, and I saw it all...and I do mean all, at Sturgis.

It's mayhem.  Absolute mayhem.  If you plan on getting accomodation, book at least a year in advance and be prepared to pay $150 a night for a single room.

Sturgis itself is bikes, bikes, and naked chicks.  Beer everywhere, parties all the time...sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, debauchery...50 year old women in hot pants and halter tops, plying their wares on the street corner.  I think I took my kids up there once, and that was enough.  My son, bless his little heart, got embarrassed about a woman walking down main street in a thong bikini and wanted to leave.

Oh, and the prices of everything get jacked up beyond belief too.
