Theres the trailer, wheres the freight?
Im trying to think when this last happened. I think it was after Turkey Day and my load was light, tonight its not even funny. Well maybe, depending on your sense of humor.
As I've mentioned before, my freight is brought to me each night from Denver; from there I take it and make stops along the way going into Utah. I ran late last night and got back this morning. Then I got a call a while ago from the driver who brings me my load and he told me he was actually in town and would be waiting for me in about 10 minutes.
I went out and we were going to swap a couple of things for him to take back to Denver, but we couldn't get the door open due to a large build up of ice I got on the way back east last night. We didn't try too hard either as there was hardly anything to swap over so Id just keep it on my new trailer.
So I look in the new trailer and I have a insanely small load. Like, out of a 48 foot trailer, there is about five feet of freight by the nose and thats it. Within that five feet of freight are three of my normally six stops as well as freight for the guy I meet up in Utah.
Because of the holidays we got swamped with freight and are running an extra day to make up. I was thinking about just going tomorrow but then Id miss a maintenance appointment with the truck so Im going to run tonight, get back in the morning and get er all fixed up.
Now I just hope the roads stay open.
