Or focus on the future?
Published on August 19, 2007 By Ziggystyles In Life Journals
Well tonight, actually over the last day or so...Ive been rather torked off to say the least and another bloggers thread that she made, where my wife and I were not allowed to reply...or that if we did, they would be deleted. It started on my wifes blog, things were said, and from there, it moved to the other bloggers blog which turned into as she admitted it, a rant.

To be honest, I actually started a lengthy reply. Couldnt really make it short as there was so much crap to go through and reply to. Then I realized, lots of the stuff I was replying to was:
1. Flat out lies or manipulations of the truth.
2. Stuff that occured over 2 , 2 1/2 years ago.
3. Stuff that I thought was long gone and over with. I certainly havent posted much in the past two years about teaching, yet one thread in particular came back as well as another thread on my comments about disability. Dear Lord...how long will people keep bringing the past up?

But, I found myself replying to it. I had to put up with that junk at the time and defended myself vehimently. Now its back? What the heck, is crap from the past going to keep on being brought up all the time?

As a matter of fact, in one case, something was not only brought back from 2 1/2 years ago, but lies were added onto it as well.

I havent posted for quite a long time on my teaching, but attacks were made on my students, my students parents and how I think children should be raised...even with the accusation made that raising cats constitutes as raising children, lol.. wow.

The problem here is that not only is it false, the bloggers huge following gathers more people onto her side, which happens to be filled with said lies, misinformation, and angst against those who don't see eye-to-eye.

We have been looking for a place to live for three weeks, somethign she has said quite a few times...then on her blog...it shortened by a third to two weeks.

My bike suddenly doubled in price to 30k.
...etc so on and so on.

Accusations and insults were made which were ONLY gathered from what has been read on this blogsite. Same stuff I haven't seriously heard since I was in grade school.

I try to get along with everyone. I like talking to others and having a friendly discussion or debate, even disagreement. But when it turns vile, that is just sad and pointless and gets nobody anywhere, outside of just building up anger. I have a impression in my head of this said blogger based on what she posts, and I honestly do hope that I am wrong. I keep that in mind every time I try to read her blog or her replies. I try not to judge others and would like to meet many of the bloggers on here some time in the future.

The problem with having a huge following is many fold (un-good grammer Im sure). First, lots of people read your blog. I know I have seen one blogger in the top ten boast on another forum on the internet about this very fact. Two, the many readers have lots of respect for said blogger and will take what they say as gospel...without even researching the facts of the situation. Thirdly...facts really aren't needed because of the large following...you don't really have to be right. Lies help alot more than the truth when you are trying to attack someone. Said lies will then gather more people to their side and so on and so on.

I was going to reply, but thought to myself...why? All it will do is either, cause a long debate on here, or cause her to post another rant on her blog...even though she said she was done...and this has happened before with "being done" with us.

If you don't agree with a view, then say so if you want, even defend your stance. If you don't like a blogger for whatever reason turns your crank, then don't read it. But learn when to go on with life and move on.

There is a saying that if we don't learn from the past, we will relieve it in the future. Well to add to that, if we don't stop looking back, we will never be able to look forward.

Do you move on...or live in the past?

If you look too much to the future, you tend to trip over your own feet. Most religions will tell you the present is the only place. While Jesus said to count the costs before beginning a project, he also admonished to focus on the present day and "take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. "

Well yes, this is also true. However, my main issue is that, there are three blogs right now attacing my wife and myself. Now, one of them is filled with various sayings like "she seemed" or "she seems".....etc. Well heck yeah...I can take what I think someone SEEMED to say or SEEMED to imply and contort it into some pile of crap.

Then ontop of that, we have people bringing up stuff from about a year or two ago (and a post my wife made this week) and they compile all that into their own professional (or not) medical diagnosis from what they read from a gal on the internet. The sad thing is that there are various people claiming my wife has a medical problem, to which she simply does not, outside of depression and stress (which is what like a huge part of the population has anyways...but never mind that fact). She gets ticked off and annoyed and people who spin words and spread lies and mistruth all over the place; while at the same time, those very people then stand on their soap box saying "see see, there we go...medical illness!" lol. Quite a few people saying "well if that was my teacher" and all that crap...but hey, after three years of teaching, no such thing has remotely even happened, as a matter of fact, NOTHING has happened as a result from parents. No parent concerns at all. But then again, the facts don't matter as long as you have the internet and certain people who don't like facts anyways because their version gets points on their blogs. Quite a few times (I seriously have lost count) over the past few weeks, people have commented in a couple of different ways that we have been laid off from every job we have had. Each time, I have corrected them...but still....that doesn't matter. It doesnt matter that they are wrong, they know it completely 100%, but actually admitting it and taking that into consideration would be something that they simply are not capable of.

So yeah, it would be nice to live in the present, but its hard when others continue to live in the past and dig it up all the time.

I seriously can't tell if you are joking or being serious.

Dead serious. What joke is there to be found in that reply?

Well....everywhere?

Well....everywhere?

And what exactly is a joke about putting my priorities in order, and rather than waste 15,000 dollars on a bike when I don't make any money, I'll pay the house off first.

Again, I fail to see where correct priorities are a joke. Your behavior is miles more bafoonish than my own.

Well first you imply that in order to get a bike...I should have my house paid off which could take Lord knows how long...and then when that happens, I should have a 100k job as well ontop of that.

second, Im not working, right now. I didn't buy the bike when I was unemployed and have made payments with no troubles ever since I got the bike along with paying extra on principal. Im not going to sell off everything I own if i go through a short time of unemployment.

"Im not going to sell off everything I own if i go through a short time of unemployment."

You don't own the bike, the loan company owns the bike.

Wow, and I thought I cared too much for other peoples comments. I'll be honest when I say I don't know you well, have barely seen more than a few articles from your lady and a couple from you. But have yet to see anything that wouldn't warrant the constant attacks you and your lady get.

But, I found myself replying to it. I had to put up with that junk at the time and defended myself vehimently. Now its back? What the heck, is crap from the past going to keep on being brought up all the time?

I don't see why you have to put up with anything. You don't like the comments, you can always ignore them. Do the people on this site have some kind of power over your life? Do their opinions really matter that much to you? You guys should have never posted this crap you speak of on a site that keeps them available for long periods of time if you didn't want it people to bring them up every time a chance arises. You want it personal, keep them off the site.

Interesting addition except that in order to move forward one must learn from the past, value the present and hope for a better future. As much as you may want to live in the present and move towards the future, you can not ignore the past cause every second that comes and goes becomes the past so your future can not exist without it.

We all have to live with our past, and we all have to live with people reminding us of it. It's human nature to remember the bad and ignore the good.

It took me a while to figure this out but you have to learn to ignore people. You should also learn not to put your dirty laundry on a blogg site if you don't want people using it against you. Own up to your mistakes and move on.

Do you move on...or live in the past?

Perhaps you should ask yourself this question before you ask others. You are not moving on, you are dwelling in the past since you felt you had to defend something you thought was forgotten. As far as I'm concerned only the truth hurts.

Actually he said have the 100k job first but I believe he was actually trying to say a job that paid more, not necessarily a 100K job. Second I believe he was trying to say that the house should be first, not a bike, especially a 15,000 bike that is now costing you 30,000 when you don't even have a stable job. Make sure you have a house with payments up to date and you can afford a vehicle on the side.

second, Im not working, right now. I didn't buy the bike when I was unemployed and have made payments with no troubles ever since I got the bike along with paying extra on principal. Im not going to sell off everything I own if i go through a short time of unemployment.

Take it from a guy who has made many, many mistakes you should have never gotten this bike in the first place. Things such as new cars, bikes, big screen TVs and such are wants, not needs and without a good paying job that is somewhat secure, you should not even be checking this stuff out. But you won't admit this, instead you will attack anyone who says anything about this. Like Sanchonino said:

Grow some balls, man, and learn to spend money on things that matter.

Like so many others, you're an embarrassment to our generation.

That would include me as well. I at least admit my mistakes and admit to having a problem.

Cars are definitely not always just a want, but I'll second the rest of your post, Charles.

I wouldn't go so far as to say you shouldn't buy a bike until your house is paid off, but I will go so far to say you shouldn't buy a bike on credit ever.

As for cars, I would only buy on credit if I absolutely had to. Better to save for it and pay up front.

Well I was revering more to new unnecessary cars such as an SUV to go to work to a job where you don't use your car or a Lexus, even a used one when you can't afford to even fix it. But I get your point.

I wouldn't go so far as to say you shouldn't buy a bike until your house is paid off, but I will go so far to say you shouldn't buy a bike on credit ever.

Same here, I figured he meant as in keeping the payments up to date, he could have worded it better. Then again that's what he would do.

I think SC would have paid off the house completely before getting a bike, though.

I would've. But I think that there's nothing wrong with what you said, though - not necessarily should your house be paid off, but you should never buy a luxury item (like a bike) on credit.

Ever.

That's the way I look at it. Call me a crazy, psychopathic saver, but that's it.

Crazy, psychopathic saver... who's going to be a millionaire...

Its easy to point out to Christians when they don't quite meet the standard they try to live up to. Lots of athiests and such are the first to point such out "hey you arent living a Christian lifestyle" when they themselves live a life the way they want, however they want.

I think you missed that point.  You are the one setting the standards for people to live which should be the same standards that you live for.  You are a Christian saying how other Christians should live, but not always doing it yourself.  If you have ideals, then you have to follow them yourself if you expect others to follow them.  If you want people to quit digging up the past, then you need to let what they say go and not fuel the flames.  Change starts with you- if you can't change, then how can you expect others to?

The future is left. If you dwell on the past and keep your eyes on there, you won't focus on the future. Sort of like walking down the sidewalk and looking back at a car accident before you run head first into a light pole.

When driving down the road of life, you should continue to watch your review mirror.  You never know when something is about to chase you down and kick you in the rear end.  You have to keep your past in perspective while living.  Everything can't be about the future, or you'll end up making the same stupid mistakes over and over again.

Things such as new cars, bikes, big screen TVs and such are wants, not needs and without a good paying job that is somewhat secure, you should not even be checking this stuff out.

Well, today's society can't see this.  Just because you can buy something doesn't mean you should. All needs should be paid for before wants are considered.  Luxury items should only be purchased when all the needs are covered and the luxury item can easily be paid for.

I have seen a huge trend in young people buying things that they don't need nor can really afford.  Banks will lend you money if you have a 40% debt ratio (your payments, combined, are 40% or less of your income).  However, that means that you are using all your available money to pay debt and live.  Smart?  Not at all.  Housing usually has a payment of some sort.  But, if you have other payments (school loans, credit cards, etc.) then a luxury item should not even be considered.

You know this quote above reminds me of the words of a great character I once saw on TV:

"You got to put your past behind you." Look, kid. Bad things happen, and you can't do anything about it, right?

Wrong! When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world.

And therefor by this same token your modo from now on should be:

Ha-ku-na Ma-ta-ta. It means "No worries."
