This is why I have Netflix

I used to go to Blockbuster a couple of times a week when I was in college. Then I started doing some shopping around. Blockbuster wanted around 3 bucks for a new movie rental while Cashwise grocery wanted just $1.15 for the same thing. Well...no brainer there.

When we moved out to Vegas, after a while, we signed up for Netflix and have been with them since. 19 bucks a month for unlimited rentals...3 at a time...watch one and send it back...boom..new movie at your door. Cant go wrong with that either.

Here in the middle of nowhere...Netflix takes longer as the movies have to travel by pony express to Denver....and its about a five - 6 day turn around for movies instead of 2-3 which is what im used to. Still....eh...not bad.

Well on the last day of school...I figured Id get a movie for my kids to watch...and since I didnt think about it before hand...I couldnt go through Netflix, so I had to go to the local Blockbuster. I ended up getting a movie and then after a few days...I noticed I was being charged late fees. First...maybe I havent been following them lately...but I thought they didnt have late fees anymore? Second...when I returned the movie...the gal told me it was only a 2 day rental and not a five day. I was told originally it was a five day rental. They wouldnt budge and I ended up paying 12 dollars for a 4 dollar rental.

Well Marcie left last week to go see family in MN and I had movies in the mail from Netflix. So..I went to blockbuster to try again. I rented Saw III on the 8th...a five day rental...and it was due back on the 12th. I returned the thing on the 9th or 10th...long before it was due back. Well I got a call yesterday on the 15th...an automated message telling me it wasn't returned. I called back and told them I thought I returned it and they told me no I hadnt. So...I looked around my house and ended up finding the DVD, but no box. I called again and asked if they had the box and they told me they did. Well Jeesh. I thought I returned the stinkin thing...they had the box there. I asked if they could do anything for me as far as late fees and she told me they called my cell phone on the 13th. Well...they never called otherwise Id know about it...or had a voice mail. So basically they are lying to me about that phone call. Then I bring up the point that I brought the movie (int his case...box) back before it was even due and I never got a call. Still...they would only take 2 days off because they claimed to call me on the 13th.

Either way...this doesnt make sense. I returned the box early ....on the 9th or 10th...which either way means it took them 3-4 days to process the box and realize "hey...theres no movie in here"...something which should have been done within the hour that I dropped it off. I got no immediate phone call...even something the next day. Nadda.

Netflix is a huge company. Maybe they only have 3 employees all together...but I get better customer service from their computers than I do anywhere else with rentals. If I ahve a damaged DVD...I just click on a button and immediately get one sent back. No arguements....no issues.

Im just rather torked that I ended up paying around 20 bucks for renting two movies that elsehwere...would have cost me 3 bucks.
