its driving me nuts!

Lately as Ive been doing nothing about my career as I don't know what I want to do....Ive been thinking more about the transport business. Specifically, auto / RV / Trailer transport that can be hauled by a regular truck. Ok well a regular, but beefy truck. For the life of me however, I can't figure out what that industry is called and exactly how it works.

I figure its simply called "Auto Transport" but when I look up stuff on the internet, I can only find Big rig operaters. I can't find any information on the smaller operators that run their own trucks.

Basically, I think it works this way...or close to it. People use their trucks (or trucks of a company)....like Fords, Chevys...etc. They then go to a factory or dealership to pick up and transport a trailer either by towing it...or putting it and others on a trailer and hauling it to a distant dealership or somewhere for delivery. For cars...I think they just move cars from dealer to dealer as needed.

Does anyone have more information on this stuff? Id like to know exactly what they do, how much they earn and the like.

Thanks,
Ryan

LW,
Thanks for the info...I googled like crazy and searched around and could only find companies that did towing such as disabled vehicles (tow trucks...etc) and ....whatever the name is for the services where you don't pay for your car and someone gets it from ya.

I went out to dinner tonight and saw a couple of trucks at the truck stop (hmmm, might have to do some research there, lol) and saw them with company names like A & S transport...etc. grrr. Why can't I find anything?
