Well, Im going to take a break from education for a while, maybe forever. I love teaching, but after a SNAFU first year, a second year as a para professional, and a third year which didnt go anywhere near how I wanted it to...I'm thinking I need to do something else to take my mind off and get back to me, being me.
But Im not sure what that is. Since I was 14, Ive worked all sorts of jobs: paper carrier, dads restaurant, grocery store, wal mart, teacher, para professional, coal and ash worker at a power plant, park maintenance for city of Moorhead, DSL phone technician...etc.
I love teaching; but outside of that, I loved working for the city of Moorhead. I got to be outside and pretty much ran a 3 ton 11-blade diesel lawn mower. I also really enjoyed working for the Public Utilities of my hometown working at the power plant. I learned a ton and always wanted to do, and learn, more.
Now that Im rethinking what I want to do...I really don't know what I want to do, which is frustrating the heck out of me. Im a good worker and do the best that I can.
Ive been thinking about driving a truck but I first dont have a CDL and second want to be home most nights to be with my wife and (eventually) family. If I did that, Id like to end up running my own company or helping manage a fleet or something along those lines.
Ive also been thinking about something similar, getting a truck (somehow) and doing transport (of cars, trailers...etc). But I dont even know what that is called, for one; and second, I have no idea where to even begin (contacts, charges...etc).
I love challenges and responsibility. I also love learning new things and get a blast out of that. I learned so much at the power plant, it was amazing and I even managed to piss of my boss because I worked so hard.
Ive also thought a bit about going back into radio somehow. I really loved working in radio (have an AAS in radio / TV broadcasting) and worked at a Christian Rock station that was ahead of its time. There I really got to try new things and had a lot of responsibilities (programming, recording, scheduling...etc). I dont know if Id like to DJ, but Ive been thinking about voice acting and the like....but again, not sure how to get into that field. Making connections Im sure but I struggle with that area, despite the fact that I can shoot the breeze with anyone. I have a great voice (so Im told) and I get told at least once a month I should be in radio which, to me is maybe the Big Guys way of telling me something.
Well Im open to questions, comments or suggestions.
Thanks all!
Zigs
