Whatever the hell it is

Ok so I know we have some medical geeks on this site; as well as there are probably some people that might have this happen to them from time to time. So, Im seeking advice, trying to figure out what this is.

Now, I don't consider myself a fast eater. I don't scarf down food or inhale it. But, sometimes after a long day and Im really hungry and have a big dinner...I eat faster than normal. Over the period of about ten seconds...I feel the food going down my throat slowing down and...at least it feels like it stops. Then...my chest starts hurting like...some odd pain just lots of pressure on it. I can breathe fine...but I can't talk that well / loud. The pain sort of comes and goes for a couple of minutes and slowly dies down and I then start to feel better. The whole episode only lasts about two minutes or so...but it still sucks.

I dont know what the heck it is. I think one of my Uncles has this happen to him once in a while as well...but I think when it happens to him, he goes and lays down for a bit.

For me, this Only happens when Im eating, and only happens when Im eating faster than normal. It also only happens with solid foods...not when Im just drinking something.

Any ideas what this is? I figure it is some sort of reaction to me eating fast...but I can't put my finger on it.

Gotta agree with Dick.  Too much, too fast, the muscles can't keep up.  Take it easy.

It's a simple case of too much input in too short a time.  You're stuffing your face with too much and you're trying to shove it down too quick.

Slow down and chew properly.
