Don LaFontaine
Published on September 2, 2008 By Ziggystyles In Movies & TV & Books

I was reading some news sites this morning and came across a bit on TMZ where Don LaFontaine has passed away from lung disease. Being a broadcaster myself and one day hoping to piddle in that realm again...I've been thinking about voice acting...although thats as far as I've gotten, just thinking.  But Dons voice is what I believe many voice actors think of when they work. He has been doing his gig for over 25 years, has done over 5000 trailers and 350,000 commercials (yeah, thats being reported on a few sites).  You may not recognize his name but his voice stands out above the rest...especially when he starts with his almost trademark line..."In a world..."

His passing actually surprised me, he was 68 and everything I've seen about him has shown him in good health and I haven't even seen any news on his being ill which is normally a big deal when it comes to hollywood news.

I was reading up on him about a year or so ago and while many actors go to studios to record and such, he actually had built his own studio in his home.  He bought all the recording and mixing equipment and such and sent his work in via the internet.

I wouldn't pick on you in such a manner if you didn't refer to yourself as a teacher as well. I'd stick with truck driving if I were you, or is that getting too hard as well?

Yeah, pick on the employed why dont ya.  I can't give you shit for your inability to hold a job because lord knows youll find some good reason of some sort that allows you to sit on your ass even more.  What is it this year?

Heck, I was even on here last week, besnuffering around and high and beholden-eth, I came across another reply, which was some done gone months after the last one where I was given carp 4 saying mute.  And since mute and moot are not words I interchangabily use on a daily basis, I did such, and it is a very common mistake, to the point where it has been discussed in great detail.  I guess Ill have to remember that next time I teach upper level grammereriology to 9 year ols.

Thank God that we have you on here Sabrina to police the vocabulary of those who 'dabble' in blogging because heck, if you had anything better to do, youd be doing it...or not.  And Thankfully, like an 96 year old grandma at the bingo hall, you are the first person to reply once again.

Like clockwork.

Hook, line, and sinker.

Bingo!

Yeah, yeah, I know you feel that even the terminally ill should be out there busting ass until they drop, but opinions are like assholes, we all have one. So what?

Yeah well we have been over this before and as usual, you overkill on the drama side of it.  I've never said terminally ill people should work...but I think your broad definition of terminally ill covers people who have sniffle wiffles.

I'm a worker.  I don't support lazyness.  Im non-union.  I work for my paycheck.  I earn what I get.  I've had a strong belief in my work ethic that as long as Im capable of working, Ill work.  you tout your disability and how the government recognizes it as such, like its a scapegoat.  "heres my sign...the guvment says so...so there" But yeah, you have the bad version of rheumatoid arthritis, and everyone who has it...they have the decaffinated version; and you have the "its super uber bad version...so incredibly bad, I can't do anything that requires...anything...see, heres my sign"

wave it around Sabrina.

I guess you 'progressive' thinkers feel that women earning the right to work outside the home translates into women having an obligation to do so. My deeper suspicion tells me you're just jealous that the two of you have screwed up your finances so badly that you both HAVE to work. Wouldn't it be nice if, after a hard day on the road, you got to return to a spotless home and have your every need attended to by a loving and appreciative wife instead of fighting over who's gonna make the hamburger helper that evening? Haha.

So make up your mind here..now women who work are progressive?  Is that now because you are no longer working?

You deep suspicion is as right as you always never are.  Jealous?  Of, you?  I mean...Im supposed to apologize for my wife wanting to do something other than sit on her ass, playing Mrs. Brady?  For having goals and determination other than to be subservient?  Its our apartment, not hers, not mine. Our responsibility.  What kind of husband would I be to her if I didn't do my part in maintaining the household?  We are equals.  But yeah, glorify it, because pushing the buttons on the vacuum means doing your part.

Also, what I do isn't hard.  Of course you dont and havent believed me when I write my job description down, you find it impossible.  Its our chores, OUR responsibility.  I dont make her accountable for anything more than what I hold myself to, and vice versa.  Today was my day off, and while she worked, I worked on the house and she had a warm southern dinner ready when she came home.  Tomorrow, we both will work and clean up as needed.  Together.  My job is not, has not, and never will be an excuse not to be a husband to my wife.

And fret not, fat boy, I am collecting no monies from your tax dollars in the form of welfare, food stamps, section 8, or all those other nasty programs, just *my* social security, which *I* paid into for 27 years. How many years have you put into it, Ziggy? I'd be willing to bet you don't even have your 40 quarters in yet, which is the minimum to qualify.

Didnt take long for the insults, did it?  Hook, line, and what?

And yeah, Im pretty sure you have collected more than your SS. And disability.  And unemployment.  I mean, the Sabrina Lil Whip Begathon collected how much money and goodies from your buddies?  And then the various food shelves.  Nice that you bought a car...Im sure after repaying your debts right?  Or, is that a bit too progressive?

Yup, several times a day, when I take a break from watching soap operas and eating bon-bons I check into JU. I always read your articles, Ziggy, because I find stupidity amusing, and you can always be counted on to display your lack of intellect whenever you post. It's a sure thing, and spares me a trip to the humor category.

Aww, well isn't that special.

on Sep 04, 2008

You know what, asshole,

Aww, really?

I'm not going to allow you to put me on the defensive here because you're so freakin' ignorant, uninformed, and misguided about things you think you know but are entirely clueless about,

Hey Sabrina,

Im not putting you on the defensive, Im just pointing out crap like I see it.  You have job after job after job, something you readily point because you have expertise (not experience...seeming to tout yourself as know-it-all...at least in all the areas you try to argue with me about).  Yet, when you dont have a job, you then swap it around and label your relationship as traditional?  And call us progressives beacuse we work together...forward thinking or whatever the description of it might be.

When you have a job, and then leave, its because of this or that or another thing...yet when I leave a job...its because of the reasoning that you made up, and that apparently my version of the story is wrong.

You drove truck, yet when I say what Im doing in my truck driving position, you openly argue and disagree saying what Im 'claiming' is not what is realistic, not in touch with reality...etc.  I mean crap, lol...want me to take a picture of my freight?  Im sure you could refute that somehow; I know ya.

You tout (I like that word tonight, was going to use bologna) to us all about your advanced knowledge in all those above areas you listed, yet you seem completely incapable of holding a job for a reasonable amount of time.  When you are unemployed, its always something else, otehr than you.  Ive used that defense and it doesnt work...does for you tho...hmm? Plus, with said knowledge you can't find any job in any of your previous fields that would allow you to work from home. Nevermind that tho, you don't want to work anymore because...apparently, its too progressive.

Lemme get this straight.  Working is good if you can keep a job...when you can't keep a job, you stay at home, change your title to housewife and call others who dont...progressives.  Mrs. Smooothh...I gotta get you some Ray Bans.

Unemployment is an insurance program that is paid for out of your own payroll, it is not an 'entitlement' or any form of welfare, and you have to be unemployed through no fault of your own in order to collect it.

Well crap, according to you, I've shown the world how easy it is to get fired.  Heck...Im the one who started the whole process by asking about something I had a concern over, so yeah...when you think about, I fired myself.

LiL Whip begathon? I challenge you to show me a SINGLE instance (other than the time I asked if anyone had an old video camera that they were no longer using) where I have asked anyone on these forums for financial assistance. No one was more surprised than I was when so many reached out to help last winter, when Simon was between contracts, and your petulant attitude about it just underscores your jealousy.

Ahh yes.  The partial-truthlie. Granted, you didn't ask for any money.  But a review of your blogs during that time period mention your financial woes, concerns...etc. Time after time, and yes, lots of people have your address.  Find a big enough audience Sabrina, voice your concerns and you are sure enough to get people to roll in money.  That and you posted a thread on the money you had recieved.  Before that, threads on concerns about this, that or the other thing. Threads on wish-lists.

Jealous about ...what exactly?  I mean...seriously?!  Hey...wow...you know what...dang, the way you move that swiffle duster around....uff.  I...yeah maybe you have me on that one. I can only hope to be in your shoes someday...or barefoot wearing an apron while doing the dishes.

Movin on up! To the east side.

It's not like YOU never write about money problems, right Ziggy? How many JUsers have offered to help YOU over a rough spot? None? Geee, maybe that's because you're just so damned unlikeable, childish, and petty.

Well whats the point in answering if you are going to answer for me?  Making up your own version again here Sabrina?  In the past, I've voiced about financial problems.  I dont write nearly a fraction of a percentage on here as much as you do...hence your being in the top 5-10 of the JUsers.  You type...alot.  here, there, everywhere.  I mean...seriously, thats all you do.  Hell, you have more points than Brad for Christs sake, and he puts all of his stuff on the main page.  If you are outpointing the guy who made the points system...that tells us all how much time you spend on here. and its not just here and there like you claim.

With that in mind, you have a large following.  I don't. I hardly post.  I have this notion of getting what you earn and earning what you get.  I dont ask for, OR expect handouts.  Things that are my responsibility are, mine.  Not anyone elses. i got myself into this mess, its my job to get out.  How can I change if I dont take the consequences of my actions and just take free handouts from people?  Apparently, your viewpoint is more...traditional.  Screw up, and expect, hope, or accept handouts from people who you will never pay back.  Sure, they didn't ask for the money back.  They gave it.  They also gave it around the holiday season, aka, giving time, when people are most generous; you know, the time you posted.

And yeah...in a sick twisted sense...doesnt that say something about me, that I can get out of situations on my own, without help?  Damed progressives!

There is another JUser in need right now, (not that you'd pay attention enough to notice such things, nor give a damn enough to send them a few bucks, oh no!)

Yeah, Im sorry.  Work gets in the way of this website.  So does family.  I spend quite a bit of time with each so I can provide.  I can see how that gets in the way tho...leaves so little time for JU and reading everyones blog.

You're far too self-centered and childish to understand the nature of giving, of caring, of going out of your own way in order to do a kindness for a relative stranger, Ziggy, god forbid you miss your entire pound of meat for dinner.

Nice, I see you are still in your old ways of looking into the past.  How long ago was that...six months.  Now...can you answer me this, was that BEFORE i posted about our new budgeting meal program we are on?

And yeah...I bought that pound of meat too damn it.  With my own money. That I earned.

And seriously...your attempt is futile in the area of understanding on how I give.  I worked at a Christian radio station as a servant of God for 7 years. So much so that I got a degree in broadcasting to continue that vision.  I reached out to the unsaved on the nations largest Christian Rock radio station, and one of the first in the nation to broadcast around the world via the internet.  My goal was to serve God and his Kingdom and to bring lost souls to Christ.  Later on, I pursued a college degree in being a public servant as a teacher.  Went from high school grades of 1-2.0 to over 3.3 in college.  My drive? My passion?  My mother has been a teacher for over 40 years.  My father and his side of the family has served the communities in which they have lived since they came over from Italy.

And you question it.  Because, somehow...whatever you do at home, is somehow beneficial to the rest of the community in which you live.  Somehow you are changing the lives of others by being traditional.

It's nice to see I can still, after all these years, get you all riled up so easily, because it's during these exchanges that JU gets to see the true face of Ziggy. I'll tell ya, it's damned ugly.

Yeah Well, the same to you.  I mean after all...ya keep coming back for more: hook, line and...you know the drill.

You know what, asshole,

on Sep 04, 2008

Wow!  I was just going to come and expressed how extremely bummed I am to hear o this loss but got a whole lot of unexpected entertainment

RIP Movie Trailer man.  I loved your "Throne of Destiny" Pull-ups commercial.

on Sep 04, 2008

You are not progressive, Ziggy. You're not very bright, either, because (as usual) you missed the entire point.

I just find it interesting when you have jobs...and then don't.  When you dont have a job, you say that it is a more traditional arrangement and that others are more progressive if they have to work.  Your definition changes when your situation changes.  Always seems to change to best fit whatever situation you find yourself in.

I've only had a single job

And of all the years youve been here, you worked at that newspaper job for how many years?  I mean...almost 50 years old...working since 15.  Lots of jobs, not able to stay in one job.  Ok with you apparently, but a choice opportunity to point out as a 'slam' against others?  Your inability to keep or hold a job is a plus, mine is a detriment?

And again, as if this hasn't been said before:

And how many fields have YOU worked in so far? Hmm, I think you worked in retail, (more than once) "teaching" (at several locations, since no school district dumb enough to hire you was willing to have you back for a second year,) broadcasting, and now truck driving...Seems to me YOU can't hold a job either, haha.

Because Lord knows, you don't believe anything I write, only what you conjure up...

*I worked at Vegas, and was going to return and had a continuing contract to do so. Both of us were.

The truth: We moved back to MN when Marcie was hired there beacuse we wanted to be back there anyways.

Your truth:  of course we were hired back, Vegas hires anybody.

*I worked in MN at a school district.  My position as a para was not renewed along with 30 others

The truth: what I wrote above

Your truth: Nobody would want to hire me back

*I worked in WY.

The truth: I was not renewed for contract.  No reason was given to myself or my union representative.

Your truth: hahaha got fired again because you are fat.

*I worked in retail

The truth:  I worked at Wal Mart to support my family during time in MN.  I didn't sit at home.  I worked from 6am -11pm five days a week, and 18 more hours on the weekend.

Your truth: you worked in retail.

I did laugh at your romantic version of what the trucking life would be like, and all I can say about that is this...If it's everything you ever dreamed of, then you need more sleep.

Nice way to avoid the fact that you were so totally sure of what you believed that you insisted I was wrong time after time; and that you were dead wrong.

You also still seem to be having great difficulty with basic math (some things never change) so I went and checked these totals myself, knowing that any figure or statement you might make in this regard comes straight out of your ass without passing through the pulp you call a brain.

Have you noticed that the more angry you get, the more insults you throw around.  Im doing a pretty good job. And you wrote all that stuff too.

Instead of your version again...try this:

https://www.joeuser.com/leaders/users

That wasn't a screw up, but when Simon's contract was terminated early (with no fault on his part, Timmons lost their contract with VDOT and the entire department was laid off)

Interesting how when its not his fault for losing a job, its ok.  When I lose a job or move on my own without getting fired, you use that against me.  eeeennnteresting.

Yeah, methinks he 'hates' me just a little too much, lol.

Hate?  Entertained.  You know where I live.  boasted about it before.  Come on up here and meet me.  Maybe I should offer a plane ticket?  haha...like youd ever accept an offer to be proven 100% wrong.  About everything.

It's really gotta frost your ass, especially how you blew so much hot air trying to convince yourself you'd MAKE money on it when you couldn't maintain employment in the area and had to move so at least Marcie could work.

Yeah Id be so mad if I sold it at a loss and had an extra 1200 a month to spend to pay back the loss, and get out of debt incredibly fast.  Thatd frost your ass because everything we bought would be paid off fairly quickly.  Sitting back in a house you complain about, in a town you complain about, with neighbors you compalin about.  Nice.

So tell me again how I present myself as having 'expertise' in any of the fields I've worked in?

Just sayin...with all the work, all your vast knowledge all that you boast about...etc.  You are unemployed.  And whichever way you make it...I find it amusing how you give me shit for getting fired, moving, working in multiple jobs...etc.

I mean seriously Sabrina...get a clue.  You are insulting me in your own ways time after time for, in the end...working.  When I graduated, I worked for a city.  Moved to Vegas and worked. Moved to MN and worked two jobs.  Moved to WY, and worked. Moved to our new town and Im working.

You don't get it.  I could care less how many jobs I have had or WILL have in the future.  I know what I do, and what I put into my job.  I work and put forth my best effort.  The only one who argues that on here is you, who has never seen me work and for the sake of your argument, never will.

Its like people who bitch about paying tons of taxes.  Some view it like they have to pay tons of taxes.  Heck...Id like to pay LOTS of taxes, because that means Im making lots of money.

In the same way, go ahead and mock me for having multiple jobs.  But you can't mock me for not working, for not wanting to work, for not doing any job that can be found.  I would work as many jobs as I could, if it meant to provide for my family.  And if I couldnt find ajob, I certainly wouldnt make excuses, or change the definition of unemployment to suit myself.

And if thats all you got...because thats all you use...you need to try a bit harder.  Giving me shit for working is looking really sad.

Ziggy, you have told so many outright LIES in the above response that I'll just let you wallow in 'em. Go on and have the last word, you're too obtuse to be argued with in the first place, but I won't spend the amount of time required to repeatedly pick these posts apart.

Ahh lies huh?  I think you just dont like me because I dont put up with your BS.

I've earned this reputation the hard way, but it's worth it.

Dear God, its a friggen blog site. You earned your reputation the hard way, on a blog site?  Seriously?  Hold your head up high on that one.  Something to be proud of.

You, on the other hand....well, I don't need to tell you what sort of reputation you've earned yourself here. You already know, although I'm certain you've crafted all sorts of excuses for it.

Basically, its with you.  Just you.  Notice your followers arent on here anymore.  They have moved on.  When this site changed to its new design, people dropped left and right and left.  Notice I didn't put up with your crap then, and I still dont?  Its just that I have better things to do.  You on the other hand...when you noticed I wouldnt put up with it, wrote articles on your own blog many a time about me and others, where at least in my situation, I wasnt even allowed to reply.

Cant get your way here because I wont put up with it, you go to yoru own thread and refuse to let me reply.  Nice reputation you earned.  Wow...yeah gotta work hard for that.

I'm just going to call you a big fat liar and leave it at that. Let others who've read these exchanges come to their own conclusions.

Yeah well fine, let them do so.  I point out your extreme usage on JU, you call me a liar, I point out how you were wrong by providing the damned link...and you suddenly forget about that in your reply.  Or am I the only one who noticed that?

You attempt to fire back at my jobs when I mention them, by saying that I myself am lying about the truth of what happened.  How the hell does that work?  Suddenly what actually happened is false and your version is more accurate?  Do you really believe your lines of crap, or do you just have a bag of Charmin next to the computer?

I write about my current job and you call me a liar, doubt anything I write is true and when I write about the truths, you have nothing to say other than a attempt at a smartass reply about it; which in the end is a jab at my working while you sit and change the defintion of work so it can fit your lifestyle.

Lol and then you claim my jealousy.  Im sorry, I still dont think you replied about what I should be jealous about...you tried to make it seem like having a unemployed spou.....I mean housewife was a good thing.

But yeah, fire back at me for having jobs.  Why dont you just write "I hate you because you are employed and are able to find a job no matter what happens and whererever you go"

I dont have a reputation on here.  This site is not my life, nor will it ever be.  And with that in mind Sabrina...I could care less what you think, your words are nothing to me.  I spend way too much time on here dealing with your attitude.  What is the point, you will always think that the vile you spill out is worth something to me or anyone else and it really isn't.

And yeah, so tough shit.  I can't post on yours, don't bother on here.  I had a previous opinion of not blacklisting and for the most part...I stand by it.  But enough is enough. Its time for me at least, to move on and leave you behind.  On the corner, with the sign, asking for bagged steaks and collecting SS as a unemplo....housewife who thinks all are jealous of the mighty Sabrina.

Which at the end of the day, is like being jealous of a sewage plant, which has no outlet

In a world where internet blogging is fast becoming passe...

This thread rocks!
